For six years, Artefact has been solving one of the outdoor industry’s biggest paradoxe : creating high-performance products… from waste.
From waders to kites, we’ve spent thousands of hours learning how to transform complex technical materials into premium, durable gear.
What started as a brand became something more: a deep, operational expertise in upcycling at scale.
Today, we’re opening the Studio to take that expertise beyond our own products, and help reshape the industry.
Scaling impact
It allowed us to experiment, fail, iterate, and prove that upcycled products could meet the highest standards of quality and desirability. But the real challenge lies elsewhere. The outdoor and fashion industries generate massive amounts of waste : returns, production offcuts, non-repairable gear.
At the same time, brands are under pressure to act and consumers are no longer convinced by empty claims. They expect real, visible action.
With the Studio, we help brands turn this constraint into an opportunity : transforming waste into products, stories and experiences, at scale.
The new standard : the "Gore-Tex" of upcycling
In the outdoor world, the Gore-Tex diamond is a universal seal of quality. When you see that label, you don't just see a fabric, you see a promise of performance, waterproofness, and breathability.
We envision the Artefact Upcycling Studio as the new industry standard for circularity.
Just as Gore-Tex guarantees technical integrity, an Artefact-designed product guarantees a high-end, ultra-qualitative second life for technical materials.
We aren't just "recycling", we are providing a label of excellence for upcycled goods that are :
- Technically superior : leveraging an expert network to handle the most complex waste.
- Industrialized : moving beyond "one-offs" to help brands industrialize their circularity.
- Radically sustainable : delivering products with up to 90% less CO2 impact compared to "classic" made in Asia products.
An expertise nobody else has
Upcycling technical waste isn't just about sewing; it’s about understanding industrial constraints. Our approach is built on three pillars that can be activated independently:
- Design : material audits, product concepts, and R&D to turn your specific waste into unique products.
- Production : expert manufacturing networks (mainly in the EU) providing quality assurance and LCA impact reporting.
- Activation : engaging your community through live upcycling workshops and point-of-sale experiences.
We are sharing six years of circular expertise with those who want to change the rules.
Less waste. More stories.
